Indianola Community Tree
Committee
Emerald Ash Borer
This pest has killed
over 20 million ash trees in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
In 2006, infestations were found in our neighboring state of
Illinois.
This
devastating insect probably arrived from Asia in wood packing
material, and is believed to have spread within the United States in
firewood.
Read more about this pest on our Emerald Ash
Borer page.
The Indianola Community Tree Committee recommends that homeowners begin
to prepare now for the changes that may occur if their ash trees become
infected and then must be destroyed.
The best practice is to plant a
variety of trees on your property.
