Garden
Maintenance Volunteers
help uncover and prune back
roses, till flowerbeds, plant flowers, pull weeds, deadhead flowers, cut
back perennials, rake leaves, cover roses for winter, and spread mulch
around trees. Choose a specific area to maintain for the entire growing
season, or help on an ‘as needed’ basis. Some training may be required.
Tree
Maintenance Volunteers
help plant & water trees,
spread mulch, and do seasonal pruning. Training is required.
Greenhouse
Volunteers work in
the city greenhouse during March and April to assist the city
horticulturist in transplanting thousands of annual seedlings into packs
that are later planted in parks and around public buildings in
Indianola.
Youth Program
Volunteers assist
with school field trips, teach activities, and assist with educational
activities at special events. Some training may be required.
