about The Zone

The Zone is an after school program offered in partnership between Indianola Parks and Recreation and Indianola Middle School.

It is open to all Indianola Middle School students on Mondays and Thursday from 3:20 to 5:00 pm beginning on September 13, 2010 and running through April 28, 2011.

After checking in at The Zone students enjoy a snack  and then it’s time for the fun to begin.

And best of all, it’s free!

Rules @ The Zone

In order to keep The Zone a fun and safe place,

students need to follow all rules as posted

or as communicated by The Zone staff.

·   All students must sign in (and sign out if leaving before 5:00).  The Zone ends promptly at 5:00.  Students need to make transportation arrangements prior to coming to The Zone each day.

·   Students should bring backpacks, coats, etc. with them to The Zone since they are not allowed to access their lockers once school is dismissed.

·   All students are expected to throw away their cups/snack wrappers and clean up any spills or messes.

·   No talking during announcements.

·   Students must stay with their selected activity for the day unless they receive permission from the supervisor to switch activities. No roaming in hallways.

·   Outdoor Play:

®  Confined to play area directly south of school building

®  Only in areas within view of Zone staff

®  Use of athletic fields (soccer, football, etc) only with Zone staff supervision

·   Cell phones are allowed.  If problems arise, Zone staff may choose to take away a student’s phone until they leave for the day.

·   No rough housing or horseplay of any kind will be tolerated.

·   Inappropriate language will not be allowed; school rules apply.

·   No hats may be worn inside the building.

·   Bathroom breaks require a hall pass and must be requested from the supervisor; only one person at a time (east hall bathrooms only).

·   Home athletic events at Indianola Middle School begin at 4:30 and admission is charged.  If a student chooses to go to an athletic event, he/she must check out of The Zone.

·   Zone students may request a hall pass to go to the concession stand or vending machines; maximum of two students at a time and snack wrappers must be disposed of properly.

Students who choose not to follow the rules

may be asked to leave The Zone.
